Tim Morton

Tim, well let’s see if we can try and fit everything we would like to say about Tim in here. If you know Tim, you know he has a very extensive racing resume. Primarily on motorcycles but has been racing all over the world specializing in Baja California. Tim has recorded 10 - Baja 1000 and Baja 500 victories along with a 1st place Vet Pro class win at the SCORE Baja 2000, and was named the SCORE Overall Motorcycle Champion in 1995. He has also earned 4 SCORE Pro 250 Class championships spanning 10 years: ’93,’94,’95 and 2005, He competed in the 6-day-long Nevada Rally taking the win in the 250cc division (while riding for Kawasaki Team Green), worked as a mechanic for the Incas Rally in South America, worked as Logistics Manager as well as one of the riders for factory BMW riding the pre-production "HP2'' 1200cc twin, and in '05 (while technically not really racing anymore) finished 4th overall motorcycle (behind 3-xr650R's) in the Baja 1000 riding a 250cc. For the 2007 Vegas to Reno and ’07 Baja 1000, Tim was recruited by Team Honda captain, Bruce Ogilvie, to head-up the Factory Honda "B” Team effort. The team, with Tim racing, earned 1st in the 30+Pro class at Vegas to Reno and in the Baja 1000 race to 2nd Overall motorcycle behind the Factory Honda "A" Team and beating the Factory KTM hotshots. In 2011, Tim traveled to the Dakar Rally as head mechanic for the only American to finish that year. Tim has participated in an amazing 21 of the past 25 Baja 1000 races, 19 of the past 23 Baja 500 races, and still leads and coaches’ new teams to success. He is now working with 4 wheels and a cage in class 1⁄2 1600 and class 10. So, with this impressive resume why did he join V.E.T.T.S. Motorsports as a board member?

“I have decades of experience running race teams, many with new to this type of racing people. We’ve had many ex-military, LEO, FD, etc. on these teams and I’ve done dirt bike training for military members. These have all been private racing efforts and DOD training, never an effort or foundation like V.E.T.T.S. I appreciate how these guys listen, follow instructions, are organized, on time (not one of my personal strong points), and take the task seriously. While I personally don’t have any military background, I feel I’m an asset to V.E.T.T.S. preparing for and tackling these events. I’ve been approached by quite a few individuals, foundations, and “nonprofits” about assisting with their race programs and I’ve always declined. I’ve always felt there was something missing in the plan. I’ve worked a bit with John in the past and believe he’s on the right path with V.E.T.TS. Motorsports.” – Tim Morton

With all of his racing accomplishments, what drives Tim the most is his passion to help others succeed. He’s tough but educational and encouraging with his rental racers, and truly enjoys leading safe and fun off road tours. Which he has been doing for years with his Baja Bound Adventures company. Providing a priceless resource of knowledge and experience for V.E.T.T.S. Motorsports to be successful.
